| Summer 2008 news
On Friday 6/27/08, at the Southern Maryland Kennel Club, our Phaedra Edwardian Lad AKA Teddy took Winners Dog and Best of Breed over 2 Specials to finish his Championship with a 3 point Major. It was a very hot weekend but despite that Teddy showed his heart in his typical exuberant manor. All of the dogs are taking the rest of the summer off until the Labor Day. |
| We always knew that Rachel was beautiful! We are delighted to have our Ch. Porcelain Rachel chosen as a "poster child" for the skin and coat supplement "Hair of the Dog" by Docs Blend. Check out the Docs Blend home page where Rachel is sporting her medals from a 5 point major win. |
| News from the 2008 Tarheel Circut.
We've had a very successful week.
Leicro's Russian Zilver Lady ("Lady Kay"), took a point on Thursday 3/20 and Reseve Winners Bitch to 2 4 point majors on Saturday and Sunday. |
| 2007 End and Beginning 2008 We have had a fun year in 07. Teddy has pointed out and with 2 major reserves. It is just a matter of time now until he finishes his Championship. All that at just a little over one year old. His next outing will be at the Tar Heel Circuit in March looking for Majors. Lady Kay is now pointed as well and will be out in 08. On July 14, 2007 Porcelain Dusha Briz, AKA Windy, finished her Championship with a 3 point major at the Shawnee K.C. under judge Charles Olvis. Windy is owned by Ethel Luke Pugh of Kitty Hawk N.C. and she is Ethel's first Borzoi. Look on our "Juliet' s puppies page" for Windy's show photo. You can read Ethel and Windy's unique story for a limited time at www.borzoibeacon.com and click on the Westminster story. We are very proud of them both. Speaking of Westminster, we are thrilled to have Opal, Rachel and Windy all accepted to compete at Madison Square Garden on 2/11/08. All of us are making the trip together to NYC starting on 2/9 and looking forward to setting up a beautiful benching area that Ethel has created. Hopefully there will be good news to report after our trip. Photo's for sure. |
| New Year 2007: There are now pages for "Porcelain Rising Stars" - Leicro's Russian Zilver Lady and Phaedra Porcelain Edwardian Lad in the Hound Gallery. Also updates for Ch. Porcelain Opal Innocense and Ch.Porcelain Rachel who both recently finished their championships. |
| Update 2006/ 2007 April of 2006 Opal and Rachel finished their Championship back to back at the Chesapeake Va. Dog fanciers Association. To boot, Opal was Best of Breed both days. A very good weekend and John’s first owner handled Ch. In May we acquired from Phaedra a Swedish import Leicro’s Russian Zilver Lady, aka Lady Kay. She is a lovely silver brindle on white and has the most outgoing personality. She’s full of vim and vigor. She is off to a nice show career by winning Reserve to a 4 point major from the 9-12 puppy class at BCOA TSE Middleburg K.C. in Va. In December, also via Phaedra, came Phaedra Porcelain Edwardian Lad, aka Teddy. Teddy’s sire is Russian bred FCI Int., Pol., Cz., Hun., Sk., Am. Ch. Avanturin aka Chris. Teddy’s dam is Finish bred and Ch. Rajalinjan Venuschka. You can see them both on the Phaedra website. We send loads of thanks to Carol and Kevin for both these promising future Porcelain Stars. Also in December we took Opal to the AKC Eukanuba Invitational National Championship Show in Long Beach Ca. Although she didn’t win Opal was asked by the AKC to take part in a photo shoot to be the breed representative for them. While we wait for the ‘07 show season Teddy is going to puppy obedience class and Lady Kay is being “home schooled”. They are both extremely bright and enjoy learning, not to mention all the treats that come along with it. Teddy will make his ring debut with Lady Kay on 2/16, my Birthday, in the 6-9 puppy class in Greenville S.C. and then on to the Tar Heel Circuit in March. We’ll keep up to date with their progress. |
| As 2005 closes we
have to be happy with the way thing went. On 10/29
Rachel got her second
major at the BCOA supported Middleburg K.C. by going Winner bitch, Best of
Winners and Opposite over Specials for 5 points, judge Barbara D. Alderman.
The following weekend Leilani got her first major at Langley K.C. by going
Winners Bitch, best of Winners and Breed over Specials for 3 points, judge
Daniel J. Smyth. That totals Rachel with 11 and Leilani 8 points. Opal will
be out before too long and we expect she will do just as well as her
sisters. Can’t wait to show her, she’s looking fantastic and what a mover!!
Other accomplishments of Juliets pups include a Group 4 placement by Porcelain Alana V Melockoff, Gail Snoddy owner, and a 3 point major by Porcelain Dusha Briz as well as 3 Canadian points, owned by Ethel Luke-Pugh. Thanks to both of them for showing their dogs so well. We look forward to 2006 and we’ll see y’all ringside |
| 8/7/05. New Puppy photos on Juliet's Puppies page as well as new photos of Opal,
Leilani &
Rachel
Porcelain update: All three of the young ladies are well on their way to a promising show career. So far Rachel has 5 points with one major, Opal has 5 points and Leilani just 2 so far but 5 Major reserves and a Group 1 in the BBE class with a large representation of the group. The one boy,Porcelain’s Errol V Melockoff, from Juliet’s litter owned by Gail Snoddy took RWD at the Midwest Borzoi Club Specialty and first in the 12-18 Sweeps class. He is pictured on Opals page. Chase is a Grandsire by way of breeding his daughter Phaedra Sarabi of Champagne to our girls sire Am Can Ch. Entwood Ivan Grozny. We are lucky to have one of his "Grandpups" with a friend here in N.C. so we can see her show and grow. We had the privilege of showing Juliet at the Westminster K.C. this past February. Although her beauty was not rewarded by the judge she had many compliments from the public. She was pictured in two newspapers reporting on the show that had the BIS dog and then Juliet. So out of 2600 or so dogs she got her due recognition after all. See her at W.K.C. on her page under Porcelain Hounds. |
We have exciting news from the BCOA Centennial National Specialty Show. Our three puppies Rachel, Opal and Leilani went with mom CH. Juliet. In the 6-9 month Sweepstakes class all 3 made the first cut along with Porcelain Duska Briz(AKA Windy) owned by Ethel Pugh. Then Rachel and Opal made the second cut with Opal going on to win second place. Thanks to Debra Chiaramonti for an excellent handling job and Ron Williams judging. In the regular classes our one and only boy from the litter, Porcelain’s Errol V Melockoff owned by Gale Snoddy won first in his 6-9 month puppy class (Kent Delay judge) and his kennel mate/ litter mate Porcelain’s Alana V Melockoff was second in her class (Carol Spritzer judge). Needless to say we are very proud of our accomplishments at this prestigious show. |

| We would like
to congratulate the new members of our Borzoi family. So far all puppies
are adjusting well and making happy additions to their new families.
1. Gale Snoddy and husband Alan of Melockoff Borzoi. Owners of sire, Am Can. Ch. Entwood Ivan Grozney JC, decided on the one boy named they Errol and a pretty girl named Alana. AKA, A & E we wonder who is art and who is entertainment. I think it could go either way. You can see A & E at www.Melockoffborzoi.com. They will be in the show ring as soon as Gale thinks they're ready. 2.Ted and Katie Warner of Salt Lake City, Utah welcomed a puppy we called Mini Mar, after our long lost Marlow. She is now known as Isabelle and loving life during the Utah winter. They are very pleased with "Izzy" and you can read their comments in our guest book. Thanks to them for loving our wonderful "Mini" I hope to visit her someday soon. 3. Marcia and Edmund Obregon of Raleigh N.C.. Already owners of a rescue Greyhound and an other Borzoi I knew one of our puppies would be in a loving home with this couple. Its also nice to have them close to home so we can visit often. They named their pup "Imari Jewel" following our china pattern theme. Jewel is going to be Marcia's new show pup and we look forward to working together. 4. Ethel Luke- Pugh of Kill Devel Hills, N.C. and her husband Mike. Looking for a "drop dead gorgeous puppy" we think we fit the bill with her lovely "Duska Briz" , Russian for "Spirit Wind" AKA Windy. Being experienced in the show ring with other breeds we expect Ethel will make us proud with beautiful Windy. 5. Chuck and Lara Smith of Independence, KY. Johns favorite of the litter, we named her Theresa after Mother Theresa because she was the meek and mild one of all 11. We couldn't have had a better match than with this family. They love her and "Raisa" as she is known now hit it off right away with son Parker. Now fitting in well with a long haired Chihuahua named Bruno and their daughter we expect she will have a long happy life. 6. Susan Truitt and family of Columbus, Ohio came to see the pups on Valentine's Day and from the two that were left, we call them the "the bookends", she chose our little J.J. Rocket Dog. She is now known as Natalia or Tally and is fitting in just fine and has a 10 year old Beagle to admire her. Susan says "Tally is the talk of the town.". 7. With one available pup left, Deborah and Derek Hoskins of Benson, North Carolina have taken the other bookend known first as J.Lo but then changed to Ellen (everyone was turned off by the name J.Lo I guess). She is now Isadora and the second pup who has the nickname Izzy. She was the first born and the last to leave us. She lives with a 15 year old Yorkie who keeps her in check but has also found her second childhood thanks to Izzy. Deborah reports "Izzy is a dear.". |
| Ch. Phaedra Juliet V Porcelain produced a litter of puppies on September 29, 2003. The sire is Am. Can. Ch. Entwood Ivan Grozny JC owned & bred by Gale Snoddy. here. |
